Bound hand and foot

Bound hand and foot

The wool performances take their title ‘Bound hand and foot’ from several seemingly disparate sources, the parable of The Great Banquet and the Simone De Beauvoir quote. Both speak in their own way of societal trappings and potential for exclusion. This performance took place in 2017 in the bucolic bliss of English countryside on a return trip to the UK after an extended absence. While the wool in its simplest form represents family ties it also alludes to, and raises questions of, femininity, craft, heritage, marital bonds, ownership, yearning, and ultimately, love.
